About Megan

Hi!  I’m Megan Howard — a writer, teacher, and mom. I live in Dallas, TX with my awesome husband Ted and two amazing boys.  This blog is an adventure in the small ways of life —  being neighborly, living simply, and finding joy in small moments. I love to explore the big issues (racial justice, the education system, mass incarceration, etc.) and discover small steps that anyone can take to

I mostly stay home with my 3-year-old while my 6-year-old is at school, but I also work part-time as an online composition instructor at a community college. I’m passionate about learning how to become a better teacher and create the best online learning experience for my students. I have a B.S. in Psychology from Abilene Christian University, and an M.A. in English Literature from Southern Methodist University.  My reading life is run by the Dallas Public Library because I’m forever putting holds on books and they always come in at the exact same time.

I recently (and successfully) wrote a novel in a month during NaNoWriMo in 2017, and had a blast writing it. I love reading and will read just about anything from spiritual memoir, to scientific non-fiction, to literary fiction, to post-apocalyptic literature. My comfort reading is always mystery, because even though I won’t know who did what our why at the end, I know we will always arrive at the answer. I like answers, but I also know there are many difficult questions in life and faith that will always remain a mystery that is never solved.
